Ryan was born October 15, 2010. We brought our son home completely oblivious to the secret lying within his brain, eyes and body. At 3 months of age Ryan was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called Septo Optic Dysplasia (1 in 10,000 births). The condition is a spectrum disorder and comes with many different challenges most of which Ryan deals with daily.
Along with being visually impaired, Ryan is also hypotonic (low muscle tone), has global developmental delays, is autistic and has epilepsy. Due to all of these conditions Ryan has also become physically and cognitively impaired.
We try to keep life as typical as we can for Ryan and his big sister but as he grows out of his standard store bought high chair and stroller it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to lead a “normal” life. Ryan needs a special Tomato Seat so that he is able to sit safely, independently and most important of all, sit with us at the table for meals and family activities.
Even though our sweet boy is unable to walk, talk, stand or look you in the eye he has a smile that can melt your heart and determination that would leave you stunned!
Ryan has out-grown his high chair, and requires a specialized seat that will comfortably and safely hold him in an upright position. For his safety and our peace of mind, Ryan needs a specialized seat and we are so very grateful that you have helped us achieve this goal! Thank you.
